The role of financial accounting is to provide information to investors and decision-makers to facilitate better decision making. The purpose of this course is to understand the accounting process and to develop skills necessary to evaluate an enterprise’s financial position and its operating, investing and financing activities.
The course gives students the necessary background to: (1) understand the concepts and measurements that underlie financial statements, (2) develop the skills needed to analyze financial statements effectively, and (3) gain an understanding of the choices companies make in reporting the results of their business activities.
